This is the theme I have chosen for this exciting year for the Ireland Chapter of the Professional Speakers Association. The idea is to “tune in” to each other to learn what really matters to each of us and to “turn on” our new brand “The Island” as a powerful platform for all of us.
Building on the foundation of last year's work of developing "The Island" as the brand for professional speakers in Ireland, the challenge in the year ahead is to firmly establish that brand as being irresistable and unignorable for anyone involved in professional speaking. This applies to speakers, event organisers, audience members, the media or any of the myriad groups that get involved in our profession.
We need to "tune in" not only to ourselves within the Chapter, but also to all these other players. We need to strengthen our links and deepen our relationships with them so that our offerings are seen to reflect their interests and concerns.
Turning on"The Island" as an exciting brand got a great start at our last meeting of 2009 when outgoing President Andrew Keogh hosted a very successful showcase in the Jameson Distillery in Dublin in November. Launching "The Island" as our new brand was a fitting celebration of a hard year's work by Andrew and his team. This year we are already planning an ambitious programme of internal development and external consolidation to culminate in an even bigger event next November.
